Succeeding at Mediocrity is a Life Wasted...

Too often in life we major in minor things. We spend our days, weeks and years busy on things that are simply not important.

The key is understanding what is important to you.

They say nothing focusses the mind on what is important more than no food and no shelter, but of course for most of us the basic needs of food and shelter are solved and taken for granted, so our focus shifts.

In modern society social media has created a generation of people who constantly compare themselves to the on-line lives of others. This has the subconscious impact of creating the need to feel that you are excellent at something or you are special in some way.

It’s this comparison with external things that is the root of the problem. Always believing that something ‘out there’ will make us feel fulfilled.

What is truly important is not ‘out there’. It is not tangible, it is not something or someone. The essence of what is important is a purely personal journey. Fulfilment cannot be measured in any tangible form, it can only be felt. It is a journey in itself understanding what is truly important to you, and accepting that what is important also changes as you get older, often becoming more and more intangible.

One of the great journeys of life is the journey to understanding yourself.
