Redefine Ambition

Ambition should be about bettering yourself, not your circumstances. The difference between the two is all about what you control.

Capitalism is all encompassing in our society. Combine that with social media and what you have is people constantly striving to have more things, and be more like the people they see on Facebook.

Having ambition is synonymous with more money, more things, more recognition, and more power. But there is a major flaw in this approach that impacts our happiness on a daily basis. The problem is when you focus your happiness on external things, you are giving away control of your happiness. You cannot control other people, work situations, the economy etc., and when your happiness depends on gaining all those external things, then you are at the mercy of a fickle and unfair world.

Redefine ambition to be a better you tomorrow than you were today. Better in all the things you can control, your thoughts and your actions. When you redefine ambition in this way you are taking back control of your happiness, because now your success depends only on the things you can control.
