You got to have Attitude

If there’s one single thing that has the biggest impact on our lives, it’s our Attitude.

When we say ‘attitude’ we often think of a person’s ego or arrogance, or ‘chip on the shoulder’. As humans we always assume the negative connotation. This isn't what is meant in this context. This is all about your reaction to events beyond your control.

When bad things happen, how do you react? Do you get angry, do you blame others, do you look for reasons why ‘The Man’ has screwed you over again? Also at the opposite end of the scale how do you react when good things happen? I’ve always believed the only thing worse than a bad loser is a bad winner.

Life is not easy, but how we react to things that happen to us is the major determining factor in how we view life and to our level of happiness. Remember your perception is your reality. I do not believe in fate, but I also do not believe we have no control. What we have control over is two key things-

 1. Our attitude to a situation

2. The decisions we make in the moment

I see life as a fast flowing river and we are in a small boat with a single paddle. If we try and fight against the flow everything will be a struggle and constant failure will be your prize. Alternately if you sit back and let the flow take you wherever it likes then more than likely the major flow leads to rapids and a crushing waterfall.

But if you notice the flow of the river and don’t fight it,  but look ahead for the fork in the river and calm waters where you want to be, pick up your paddle, and with it start to work with the flow to change your direction. A small change in direction early leads to a big change in the final destination.

Use what tools or skills you have and work with the flow of life to influence where you end up. It doesn't mean you won’t hit turbulent waters, but it’s better than not having tried at all….and who knows you might end up where you want to be.
