What are Core Beliefs?
Core Beliefs would seem a simple concept, it’s what I believe is right, it’s my strong opinion on a subject……but they are just the outward symptoms of Core Beliefs.
Core Beliefs live in our subconscious. They are things that we do not even question as being wrong. They are built up in our subconscious over a lifetime of experiences. They are our ‘Factory Settings’ such that when we are faced with a situation, these subconscious beliefs provide automatic thoughts and then automatic reactions.
Have you ever questioned your core beliefs? You probably haven’t because you don’t even see them as your beliefs, you just see them as right or wrong. What I’m talking about here can be wide and varied but can be everything from Religious beliefs, to racial profiling, to fear of confrontation, or anything in between. We make automatic assumptions about people and situations, based on our life experiences in the past. It doesn’t however make us bad people. One that always gets me is if someone makes an assumption about a particular person based on skin colour or race. The person who has made the judgement is immediately vilified by those of the far left as a racist and bigot. They just can’t see that their vilification of that person for making a judgement, makes them exactly the same as that person.
Stop living subconsciously and being controlled by your automatic thoughts. It does you no justice and just makes you an ignorant bastard. Be aware of the automatic thoughts you have about people or situations and stop yourself making judgements without first seeking all the facts.
