The door to Happiness is locked from the inside.....
We spend our whole lives knocking…even bashing...on the door to happiness, pleading for someone to open it for us. We look through the peep-hole, we yell, we scream…but no one answers and the door remains closed.
Most people eventually reach a point where they give up. They accept that the door will never open and they blame all those people on the other side who wouldn’t help them.
But there are a few who when they reach this point, lean on the door in resignation and look down…and find a key in the lock.
Your happiness and peace of mind has absolutely nothing to do with your external circumstances nor other people. It rests solely and unequivocally with how you think, act and react to all the experiences you have.
I don’t for one minute mean to belittle anyone’s experiences nor underestimate the major hurdles individuals have in their lives…but…this isn’t the point.
It is not what happens to you in life, or what experiences you have, it’s how you view them and how you react to them. As the great sage Rocky Balboa once said –
“It’s not how hard you can hit. It’s how hard you can get hit and still keep moving forward”.
You can’t control 99% of what happens to you in your life, you only control the way you decide to let those things affect you. It is far from easy…but the door to happiness is always locked from the inside.
