Comfort Zone Validation

Stop being busy inside your comfort zone, constantly looking for validation.

Comfort Zones are dangerous places, just like Black Holes. As we get older our comfort zones get smaller as we drift closer and closer to the event horizon where not even our excuses can be heard anymore.

We have comfort zones because it’s simply our survival mechanism. It’s millions of years’ worth of evolution telling us not to waste time and energy on things that are risky or do not meet our basic needs. The problem is today our basic needs of food, water and shelter are covered, but our brain still sets the bounds of our comfort zone based on what is too hard or what we can’t do.

Modern society and social media in particular have perpetuated this problem by constantly comparing ourselves to the digital (quite often exaggerated or fake) lives of others and we feel weak or useless. But instead of that being a motivational factor, we tend to stay in our comfort zone, look busy, make excuses for why we can’t step outside our comfort zone, and constantly look for validation from others that we really are good and trying as hard as we possibly can.

Where’s your Comfort Zone?
