Let’s talk about ALTRUISM

Being Altruistic should be a simple concept to understand but is often lost in translation. Rotary clubs are built around the philosophy of Altruism by helping others where you can.

Altruism is a personal journey, as are all the characteristics of the Old Boy Code, and is not a means for seeking gratification or gain.

It’s important to understand that the ability to be Altruistic is not dependent on wealth and status. Yes there are wealthy people who make large anonymous donations and that’s great…BUT…it’s nothing to do with money. It’s what you do that counts. Do what you can…with what you…where you are.

Remember it’s not the act itself on which altruism is judged, it’s the intent behind the act. Are you doing it so others will say how good you are? Or are you doing it simply because it’s the right thing to do and it makes you a better person?
