What You Think, You Become.... Well, Sort Of

Everyone has heard this mantra “What you think about all the time dictates what your life will be”. I’m certainly not here to dispel that, but I do want you to understand that this all about – Action & Focus.

When we focus on this in a negative connotation, then constant worry about the future and regret about the past, will most definitely lead to a very unfilled life, low self-esteem and all the emotional issues that come with it. It’s because of the constant worry about what will be, and beating ourselves up about things that have happened in the past, that we stagnate. We simply can’t make a decision to take action to change our lives either from fear of getting it wrong, or if you’ve reached that stage, you simply can’t be bothered failing again.

You stagnate and don’t take action because your sense of who you are is tied up in the outcome of the actions you will take…rather than focusing on just doing the actions and accepting that the outcome may fail or it may not.

If we look at “What you think you become” in a positive sense, then we look at self-help fads such as “The Secret”. Positive thinking is good but the problem is that they all tell you to focus on thinking positive thoughts, mantras, keep telling yourself you’re worth it etc. I have no problem with that, but they often downplay the fact that without Action all your positive thoughts will be worthless and in fact will be self-defeating when you don’t achieve what you have been so passionately thinking positively about, because you’ve forgotten to actually take physical action.

Yes you have a RIGHT to have wonderful things in your life and achieve the best of everything you want…but as with everything in life your RESPONSIBILITY to take action must always come first.

There are no RIGHTS that precede RESPONSIBILITIES
