Life is a Game of Poker
Your life is a lot like a game of Poker. Everyone is dealt a different hand. Some have a good hand and some have a bad hand and there is nothing you can do about it. But like Poker it’s not about the hand you’re dealt, it’s how you play that hand.
It’s an old adage to say you play the hand your dealt and it sounds great in theory, but our insecurities and ego always get in the way and we look to blame other people or things for the cards we hold.
You have to accept that it is chance that dictates the cards you are dealt. But what you can do, is influence the outcome of the game by paying attention (being conscious of your weaknesses and not laying blame), and being conscious of your strengths. Don’t let ego get in the way.
Don’t feel you have to play all your cards at once (defend your sense of who you are). Hold back and just observe without judgement. It’s amazing how much other people give away for free in the card game of life
